Course Details

This course trains students to:

  • conduct basic measuring and levelling techniques as part of the set-out procedures performed on building projects.
  • produce schedules of resource requirements so that orders can be placed for materials and labour for residential and commercial projects and record and track costs as they are incurred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • access to a computer, printer, software programs and reliable Internet to access.
  • In addition to this, all students are required to participate in a surveying practical. This practical is currently running as a 1 day session at the Strathfield campus.

The 1 day program is being conducted with 4 students only allowing an accelerated delivery. An alternative 2 day program may be trialled at a regional campus in late 2020 or 2021 depending on the success of the Strathfield delivery. All subject to Covid 19 restrictions and protocols.
Attendance at this practical session is compulsory. All cost associated with transport and accommodation are at the students expense and additional to course fees.

All equipment for the practical session is supplied but students will need to wear suitable attire, hat and footwear.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is an Online course. You will need to complete approximately 2 hours of online study, each week, for your enrolment duration of 6 months.
You can increase the hours of online study per week to complete the course sooner.

You can also expect to complete approximately 1 hours of additional study each week outside of online study hours, including private study, research and assignment preparation.

An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

FULLY GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED

This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job. Note, a maximum of two (2) fully government subsidised enrolments per person.

If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
