Course Details

TAFE NSW is offering the Childcare Community an opportunity to update their credentials and remain compliant with legislative and policy frameworks. This short course will give you the unit that you need to remain compliant with legislative and policy frameworks. An onsite assessment will be conducted after the workshops to complete training.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

All participants enrolling in this course will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) - www. usi.gov.au.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • access to a computer and Internet for some research activities and completion of assessments. You will require a reliable Internet connection.
  • a current NSW Working with Children Check (or equivalent for other States) prior to being approved for work placement
  • be physically able to lift and assist young children during physical care routines and manually handle furniture and equipment

WORK PLACEMENT is a requirement of this course. You will need to complete:

  • a minimum of 10 hours work placement in an appropriate child, community or health service, working with children to the age of 13 years.

Work placement is experience in the workplace that formally contributes to the assessment process.

During the 10 hours work placement, there are specified elements which must be assessed during the work placement period. Student assessment during work placement consists of written tasks, which need to be submitted for marking at the completion of the work placement. Feedback and guidance is given to the student on these tasks by accessing staff at TAFE Digital via phone or email. The workplace supervisor will provide feedback to TAFE Digital on the student's performance which will contribute to the overall assessment.

Students will need to be physically able to lift and assist young children during physical care routines and manually handle furniture and equipment.

Work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of this course. Due to the impacts of COVID 19 and the disruption to service provision in the Early Childhood, Aged Care, Health and Community Services Sectors, there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe.
