Course Details

This course meets the industry requirements for game harvesters who harvest wild game animals with or without firearms including possums, camels, horses, deer, feral goats and wild boar, for further processing. It is a course requirement that some skills are demonstrated in an operating game depot or in the field, with a licensed game meat harvester.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • access to a computer and printer
  • Internet to access the TAFE Digital platform.

Hard copies of learning material can be posted.

Work Placement is a requirement of this course. You will need to complete:

  • fieldwork with a licensed harvestor to complete the practical assessment. This activity must be organised by the learner.

Work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of this course. Due to the impacts of COVID 19 and the disruption to service provision in some industry sectors, you may experience delays in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in your planned timeframe.

There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is an online course. You will need to complete approximately 10 hours of online study, each week, for the recommended study period of 12 weeks.
You can increase the hours of online study per week to complete the course sooner.

You can also expect to complete approximately 3 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent study, research, practice and assignments.

Through work, study and life experience, ideally you will have:

  • good digital skills e.g. able to research on the internet, email and take photographs or videos using a mobile device
  • good time management and organisational skills required to follow your timetable and manage your study schedule and complete the learning resources and assessments in a timely manner
