Course Details

This course provides competencies within taxation and law that may assist in meeting the Tax Practitioner's Board (TPB) requirements when applying for tax agent's registration. Applicants must apply for registration and gain advice from the TPB prior to enrolment as TAFE NSW does not provide advice for this purpose.

During 2021, construction of the new Meadowbank Education & Employment Precinct will be undertaken at TAFE NSW Meadowbank. This is a Self Paced - Combination course. You must attend approximately 4 hours of class per week. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.

The course will run for 26 weeks.

Course length is 6 months from date of enrolment (183 days). Start and end dates will be updated accordingly once enrolled. Students may choose to attend face to face classes if available or complete the unit online. Please email to enquire about face to face classes.


This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research and analyse legal principles and issues in corporations and trust law matters and then apply this knowledge to provide advice to clients.

Work functions in the occupational areas where this unit may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. This unit is designed to meet educational requirements of the Tax Practitioner Board (TPB). Refer to the FNS Implementation Guide Companion Volume or the relevant regulator for specific guidance on requirements.
