Course Details

Do you require practical first aid skills? This course will provide you with up to date first aid procedures. You will learn how to respond in an emergency situation, communicate details of the incident and evaluate your own performance. Once you have successfully completed this course your First Aid skills will be valid for 3 years. However, the CPR component of the course is valid for 12 months and will need to be updated annually for you to keep your certification current.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

No prior knowledge or experience has been assumed in the delivery model.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • to be able to perform 2 minutes uninterrupted CPR on an adult and infant manikin - adult at floor level as per training package requirements
  • to be able to respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk of life

Participants who may have physical limitations or a disability that would prevent them from performing required basic life support skills are advised that they will not be able to achieve the unit.

STUDY COMITTMENT

This is a full time, blended course. You will need to attend approximately 8 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 1 week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 6 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including reading the TAFE NSW First Aid text book and completing self assessments.

This course is currently scheduled on Saturday from 8.30am to 5.00pm. Please read and complete the self assessments in the text book prior to attending and this will assist in answering the multi choice questions on the day.

This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.

Payment of course fee must be made PRIOR to commencement of learning activity.
