Course Details

Do you require practical first aid skills? This course will provide you with up to date first aid procedures. You will learn how to respond in an emergency situation, communicate details of the incident and evaluate your own performance. Once you have successfully completed this course your First Aid skills will be valid for 3 years. However, the CPR component of the course is valid for 12 months and will need to be updated annually for you to keep your certification current.

When you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • to demonstrate two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a resuscitation manikin placed on the floor and be able to assess for danger and visually and verbally assess the patient

This is a full time 1 day course. You will need to attend approximately 8 hours of class, over 1 day. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 6 hours of other study.

This course requires you to have completed at least 6 hours pre-work using the online First Aid resources and self-assessments prior to the one day face to face work shop.

  • are refresher students and those undertaking First Aid training for the first time

MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE
The First Aid course is composed of two elements:

  • an online study and assessment, which requires at least 6 hours of structured pre-work
  • practical workshop, which requires 6 hours of delivery and 2 hours of assessment

Please note: the online study and assessment element must be completed before attending the face-to-face one day practical workshop component.

This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday, from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.
