Course Details

Do you require practical first aid skills? This course will provide you with up to date first aid procedures. You will learn how to respond in an emergency situation, communicate details of the incident and evaluate your own performance. Once you have successfully completed this course your First Aid skills will be valid for 3 years. However, the CPR component of the course is valid for 12 months and will need to be updated annually for you to keep your certification current.

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to:

  • Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles) on an adult manikin placed on the floor, be able to assess the area for danger, and visually and verbally assess the patient

To successfully complete this course:

  • This First Aid course, during the COVID-19 pandemic, is composed of 3 elements an online study and self assessment which must be completed before attending, the face to face one day practical workshop component, three 2 hour connected learning sessions and one 2 hour face to face assessment session. Links to the MS Teams site for the connected learning and the Moodle self assessments will be sent to you on enrolment.
    To be competent in First Aid you must be able to demonstrate "two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a resuscitation manikin placed on the floor" and be able to assess for danger and visually and verbally assess the patient. This course is suitable for both refresher students and those undertaking first aid training for the first time.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Part Time Daycourse. You will need to attend approximately 2 hours of class, over 1 day. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 1.5 hours of other study.
