Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Knowledge assessments: multiple-choice questions

  • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation such as basic life support, first aid incident response and report and manage illness and injuries

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
    You can select the 1 day face-to-face class at a point most suitable over your 6 month enrolment, but it is recommended to complete within 1 week.
    You will need to complete approximately 7 hours of online study. You can increase the hours of online study to complete the course sooner outside of online study hours, including Private study, quiz preparation, practise of skills and research.
    As well as the online component, there is a requirement to do 6 hours of face to face or other study.
    The practical assessment session will be completed onsite at TAFE Digital, Strathfield. There are a variety of days available including Saturday sessions.
    The session will involve:

    • theory revision
    • demonstration and assessment of practical skills:
      • CPR
      • operation of a defibrillator
      • asthma puffers
      • response to emergency scenarios including bandaging
      • written test

Course delivery Studying Online

Choose when and where you study. Set your own pace, with all your study materials online, allowing you to manage your own workload. Access your learning management system 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a highly collaborative space that involves more than simply reading and consuming.

You will interact creatively with content, teachers and your peers, improving your overall engagement with the course. Teaching staff are available to provide you with support, enabling you meet your course outcomes.

You may need to attend a vocational placement, on campus assessment and/or a teacher might need to observe and assess you in a real or simulated environment. Online courses require access to a computer with an internet connection.
