Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Knowledge assessments: multiple-choice questions

  • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation such as basic life support, first aid incident response and report and manage illness and injuries

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following requirements:

    Local Entry Requirements: Thank you for choosing TAFE NSW for your First Aid Training. Before you can attend your practical session on 08/11/2022, you must complete online learning modules and a Knowledge Assessment on Moodle. More information about studying through Moodle will be emailed to you when your enrolment and payment is complete. It will take approximately 6 hours to complete the online part of the course and it must be completed by 28/10/2022. You MUST achieve 100% in the Knowledge Assessment before you can attend your practical session. The practical session will run from 8:30am – 1:00pm and will be delivered by TEAMS. A link to your TEAMS virtual classroom will be emailed to you after enrolment. Practical sessions can be attended at your local TAFE Campus or from your own location provided you have access to reliable internet, camera and microphone. Please wear comfortable clothing, suitable for working on the floor when attending your practical session. You must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. Please note that you will not be permitted to attend the practical session on 08/11/2022 course if you log into your virtual TEAMS classroom more than 15 minutes late and/or if you have not satisfactorily completed your online Knowledge Assessment.

Course delivery Virtual classroom, on campus

You will attend a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre to connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom where you will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units or practice training though our network of Mobile Training Units.
