Knowledge assessments: multiple-choice questions
Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation such as basic life support, first aid incident response and report and manage illness and injuries
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following requirements:
To complete the practical assessments, the student must have the physical ability to provide resuscitation by kneeling on the floor and performing chest compressions for 2 minutes uninterrupted, on both an adult and infant manikin. The complete the knowledge assessment the student must be able to: read, listen and understand course material written in English, write a written Incident Report in English and listen to the instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) where prompts are delivered in English.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Statement of Attainment in Provide First Aid in an education and care setting qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 1 units of competency, including 1 core and 0 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
