MARKETING OVERVIEW

The Statement of Attainment in Provide First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is essential to work in a wide range of industries including nursing, aged care, building and construction and agriculture. Equip yourself with life-saving skills to take immediate action in an emergency and apply first aid to casualties as well as perform CPR.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Physical ability to kneel on the floor to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles) on an adult manikin placed on the floor

LICENSING

Depending on which industry you are employed in, you may need to renew your qualifications regularly. Safework NSW notes that refresher training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) should be carried out each year and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years. Please check your local licensing bodies and with your employer for relevant up-to-date information.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To complete the practical assessments, you must have:
-The physical ability to provide resuscitation by kneeling on the floor and performing chest compressions for 2 minutes uninterrupted, on both an adult and infant manikin.
-To complete the knowledge assessment the learner must be able to: read, listen and understand course material written in English, write a written Incident Report in English and listen to the instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) where prompts are delivered in English.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part-time combination course. You must attend approximately 4 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 10 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study and research.

This course is currently scheduled on Friday with morning classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.
