Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Knowledge assessments: multiple-choice questions

  • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation such as basic life support, first aid incident responses eg burns haemorrhage, managing illnesses and injuries (diabetes, a bee sting and more)

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • There is no work placement for this qualification.

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • This training is not subsidised by Government funding. There are no fee exemptions, concessions or subsidies available for this course.

  • Payment of course fee must be made PRIOR to commencement of learning activity.

Additional entry requirements

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • This course offering is designed for people who:

    • You have to attend at least 1 days of face to face workshop.
    • You will need to complete approximately 6 hours of online study, and attend one day practical workshop at TAFE Digital, 51 Wentworth Rd, Strathfield NSW 2135. You can select the 1 day face-to-face class at a point most suitable over your 12 month enrolment.
    • You must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult manikin placed on the floor, be able to assess the area for danger, and visually and verbally assess the casualty and be able to assess the environment following DRSABCD in line with ARC Guidelines.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Statement of Attainment in Apply First Aid and CPR qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 2 units of competency, including 2 core and 0 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

  • Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation HLTAID009

  • Provide First Aid HLTAID011

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
