Course Details

This is a general qualification for entry into sectors of the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. At this level, work takes place under direct supervision within clearly defined guidelines for work activities.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, individual units of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Users of this qualification must refer to the relevant state or territory jurisdiction for details.

**COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS**
To successfully complete this course, you will need: -access to a computer and internet which can be provided by all TAFE NSW libraries. -appropriate clothing and shoes -pens and paper
To enrol in this course you must have 80 hours of work placement over the duration of your course in a suitably approved animal care facility. Work placement requirements will be discussed with you at orientation.

Compulsary Orientation is Wednesday 5 February, 9.00am till 4.00pm at TAFE NSW Goulburn.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a blended part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 7.5 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 4.5 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Online Moodle reading and assessment preparation.

This course is currently scheduled on Thursdays, from 9.00am to 4.30pm fortnightly to a month apart at TAFE NSW Goulburn, Block C, Level 1, Room 11. Compulsary Orientation is Wednesday 5 February, 9.00am till 4.00pm at TAFE NSW Goulburn.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
