This qualification is a general industry qualification for persons operating at an assistant level and undertaking animal care functions in an animal care workplace.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, an individual unit of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory.

This is a Part time Day course. You will need to attend approximately 17 hours of study per fortnight for 12 months. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 22 hours of other study per fortnight.
You may also be required to complete approximately 15 hours of additional study each fortnight outside of class hours, including Online Moodle reading and assessment preparation.

Are interested in employment in the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics.
This course applies to new entrants to industry, existing workers wishing to receive a base qualification, school leavers and people returning to work
MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE
The course requires 104 hours of work placement over the duration of your course in a suitably approved animal care facility. Work placement requirements will be discussed with you at orientation.

This course is currently scheduled on Thursdays, 9.00am till 4.30pm fortnightly to a month apart. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
