This is a face to face part time course. You will need to attend approximately 7.1 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 1 year.
You may also be required to complete approximately 10 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including unstructured learning we incorporate with the use of Moodle and TEAMS tutorials in addition at private study, assignment preparation, work experience and independent research.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
This course offering is designed for people who are wishing to enter the Animal Care industry and have a general interest in animal care and the management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. At this level, work takes place under direct supervision within clearly defined guidelines for work activities.
Some students are studying this as a pre-requisite to ACM40412 Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing. Reasonable adjustment for learners of this cohort will be addressed on an individual basis as required.
Learners in this cohort will select electives from the elective list; elective units must be relevant to job outcomes in animal studies and must be chosen to ensure the integrity of the qualification outcome at AQF level 2.
SERVICES AND STUDY SUPPORT
Support is based on a review of the applicants RUReady assessment LLN skills through written tasks and a one-on-one interview and if deemed applicable, a meeting will be arranged to discuss the LLN assistance that TAFE NSW can provide to the learner, with a view to creating an individual training and learning plan that best addresses the learners LLN needs.
Every effort is made by TAFE NSW staff to ensure a successful outcome for enrolled learners. TAFE NSW offers a free tutorial support service to all TAFE.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
