This qualification is for persons operating within an organisation that provides professional pet grooming services. A pet grooming attendant undertakes salon reception and housekeeping duties as well as bathing, brushing, trimming and other basic grooming services for domestic pets, usually dogs and in some cases cats. The duties require patience and a genuine empathy for animals, excellent customer service skills as well as high standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, an individual unit of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory.

This is a part time evening, blended course. You will need to attend approximately 2.6 hours of class, over 1 night a week, for 18 months.
You may also be required to complete approximately 14 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, research, assignment preparation and work placement.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
The Certificate III in Pet Grooming is an entry course into the companion animal pet grooming industry. This covers basic animal care and includes subject areas on; identification, handling, feeding and nutrition, WHS and workplace communications. The Certificate III in Pet Grooming also offers a pathway for further learning such as, Certificate IV Pet Styling and ACM40412 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

As a TAFE NSW student in this course, you will have access to:

Your classes will run on Wednesday evenings 6.00-8.00pm via interactive webinar. You must also attend an appropriate animal care workplace for one full work day per week in order to gain the practical skills.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
