Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:

    Students must have work placement arrangements of a minimum of 480 hours in a veterinary practice / clinic / hospital.
    Students must provide evidence of confirmation of work placement prior to enrolment. An example of work placement evidence is a signed letter from a veterinary practice.
    Students who are unable to provide evidence of work placement will not be allowed to enrol into the course. Students whose work placements are made unavailable during the course must find other suitable work placement to meet the qualification and unit requirement.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have:

    • hold a Certificate II in Animal Studies OR
    • hold a relevant Certificate III or higher level qualification in an animal science discipline OR
    • can demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge in a relevant animal science discipline to any of the above qualifications.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 21 units of competency, including 17 core and 4 speciality units.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
