INDUSTRY DEMAND
Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing employs approximately 326,200 persons (ABS trend data). Over the past five years, employment in the industry has increased by 1.5 per cent.
The Agriculture industry requires skilled people to contribute to developing more efficient methods of food and fibre production, as the demand to produce more with less land and water resources increases

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
TAFE NSW offers the Certificate II in Agriculture as either a traineeship or non-traineeship, so you can grow the career you want.
Non-traineeship
There are no entry requirements for non-trainees. You can enrol in this course now.
Traineeship
To be eligible for this course you must:
- Be employed in the agriculture industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
- Have a signed traineeship contract

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- a high degree of physical fitness, required for farm fencing and chainsaw operation.

INFORMATION SESSIONS
There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course.
STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a Part Time Evening course. You will need to attend approximately 6.4 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 5 hours of other study per week.
You may also be required to complete approximately 2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours including, self-directed learning, reading, research, assessment preparation and private study.
There is the option available to accommodate remote students via Connected Delivery for the theory component of the course. Practical classes will be conducted on the weekends approximatley once every three weeks on a Saturday. Students will be required to travel to Scone Campus to access specialized plant and equipment for some of these classes.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
