INDUSTRY DEMAND
Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing employs approximately 326,200 persons (ABS trend data). Over the past five years, employment in the industry has increased by 1.5 per cent.
The Agriculture industry requires skilled people to contribute to developing more efficient methods of food and fibre production, as the demand to produce more with less land and water resources increases

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
TAFE NSW offers the Certificate II in Agriculture as either a traineeship or non-traineeship, so you can grow the career you want.
Non-traineeship
There are no entry requirements for non-trainees. You can enrol in this course now.
Traineeship
To be eligible for this course you must:
- Be employed in the agriculture industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
- Have a signed traineeship contract

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
If you are unemployed you will need to work on the TAFE farm, on Thursdays to gain industry skills to assist you in obtaining work in the industry

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a Full Time course. You will need to attend approximately 17.2 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 36 weeks.
You may also be required to complete approximately 14 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours including, self-directed learning, reading, research, private study and assessment preparation.

This course offering is designed for people who:
- Would like to become farm or station hand
- Would like to become farm or station worker
- Would like to become a livestock transport driver.
This course provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture, which enables individuals to select a livestock production, cropping or livestock context as a job focus or in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both cropping and livestock.
Individuals perform tasks in a variety of contexts, which involve some judgement in selecting equipment and services.

This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday, from 9.00am to 4.00pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
