Course Details

This qualification provides an occupational outcome for industries and agencies in rural and regional Australia.

Depending on the units selected individuals can be employed not only in rural industries but also other rural and regional sectors, such as local government, tourism, hospitality, transport, construction, community services, information technology and metals.

Industry expects individuals with this qualification to carry out routine tasks under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship.

This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture and rural enterprises. The qualification enables individuals to select a cropping or livestock context as a job focus or, with units in tractors, quad bikes and chainsaw operations.

Individuals with this qualification carry out routine tasks under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work.

Please wear approriate clothing for agricultural work. Have a broad brimmed hat, work gloves, sun glasses and a water bottle.

For intending students there will be video lectures at Murwillumbah and Yamba. All practical will be held in either Murwillumbah or Yamba with mandatory workshops at Wollongbar TAFE for cattle and machinery units. This course offers blended delivery for 8 hrs per day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There will also be additonal unstructured learning of up to 108 hours.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.

A range of criteria apply for course fees and to access government subsidised training.

When your enrolment is complete, and you have paid the applicable fees, you will be entitled to attend class, participate in training, sit for examinations, receive educational awards, use amenities and services and receive an active TAFEcard (which provides access to library resources).

In addition to your course fee, there may be some additional charges to cover the costs of undertaking this training.

Costs associated with work experience and field trips such as food, transport and accommodation are at the students own expense.

If you wish to obtain a Chemical Certificate as an enrolled student there is an additional cost of $65.
