Course Details

This qualification provides an occupational outcome for industries and agencies in rural and regional Australia.

Depending on the units selected individuals can be employed not only in rural industries but also other rural and regional sectors, such as local government, tourism, hospitality, transport, construction, community services, information technology and metals.

Industry expects individuals with this qualification to carry out routine tasks under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a Part-Time Blended course. You will need to complete approximately 19.2 hours of study per week, for 1 year.

You may also be required to complete approximately 1.8 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including practicing skills and knowledge, working with horses, independent study, research, practice and assignments.

Practical workshops are held 3 times a year at Taree campus. Learners are encouraged to attend every workshop, but not essential if they already have practical skills

This course offering is designed for people who:

  • wish to gain entry level skills in the performance horse industry. Learners can progress to higher level courses and gain credit for some of the completed units

This course is delivered online. Learners are expected to devote approximately 15-21 hours per week to the program. Practical workshops are held 3 times a year at Taree campus. Learners are encouraged to attend every workshop.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
