INDUSTRY DEMAND

Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing employs approximately 326,200 persons (ABS trend data). Over the past five years, employment in the industry has increased by 1.5 per cent.

The Agriculture industry requires skilled people to contribute to developing more efficient methods of food and fibre production, as the demand to produce more with less land and water resources increases.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part-time day face-to-face course. You will need to attend approximately 14 hours of class, over 1 - 2 days a week, for 36 weeks. There are programmed weeks where you will be required to attend Thursday and Friday for practical learning and assessment sessions. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 11 hours of other study per week.

This qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production, cropping or livestock context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both cropping and livestock. Individuals with this qualification perform tasks in a variety of contexts, which involve some judgement in selecting equipment and services. Job roles vary across different industry sectors and may include:

-Livestock transport driver

This course is currently scheduled on Fridays, from 8.30am to 4.30pm at TAFE NSW Goulburn, in Building L, Wool Room. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
