INDUSTRY DEMAND

Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing employs approximately 326,200 persons (ABS trend data). Over the past five years, employment in the industry has increased by 1.5 per cent.

The Agriculture industry requires skilled people to contribute to developing more efficient methods of food and fibre production, as the demand to produce more with less land and water resources increases.

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students).   • have acess to a suitable farm site to be able to complete assessment tasks within the course.

Demonstration of practical skills are requirements of this course. Due to the impacts of COVID 19 and the disruption to some practical workshops and workplace locations in the Agriculture Sector, there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a online course. You will need to complete approximately 13 hours of online study, each week, for your enrolment duration of 18 months.
You can increase the hours of online study per week to complete the course sooner.

You can also expect to complete approximately 4 hours of additional study each week outside of online study hours.

This course offering is designed for people who:

  • are seeking a general vocational outcome in agriculture

The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production, cropping or livestock context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both cropping and livestock.

At TAFE Digital we offer two options for this course:

  • For students in NSW with proximity to Sydney, we have a practical version that include the units Operate Tractors, Operate Machinery & Operate Quad Bikes. These will be run at practical sessions held at TAFE NSW Richmond campus at different times throughout the year.
  • For remote and interstate students, we offer alternative units; Establish Agricultural Crops, Maintain Agricultural Crops & Coordinate Work Site Activities.

Students will be contacted prior to finalising enrolment to confirm which pathway is best suited to their needs.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

This training is subsidised by the NSW government under Smart and Skilled. The student fee you will need to pay, will be determined according to your personal circumstances and eligibility for a subsidised place, you may also be eligible for a concession fee, fee exemption or fee free scholarship. Payment by instalments is available.
