To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • Personal Protective Equipment Work boots, work clothes relevant to weather conditions, hat and sunscreen.
  • Access to a computer with internet capability. This can be accessed at any TAFE NSW library.

TAFE NSW will support your training with workplace practical sessions on local Agriculture properties. The practical is a key component to your skills development and you are encouraged to find access to an Agriculture business to reinforce your skills to support successful completion of the qualification.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is an part time day blended delivery course. You will need to study approximately 14 hours of study per week, for 18 months. This includes theory online with practical completed at campus workshops.

Workshops are conducted on site at TAFE NSW Goulburn, at least 3 times per year. These block attendances are timetabled in advance.

You will be provided with information regarding the workshops held at the TAFE NSW Goulburn Equine Centre.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?

This course offering is designed for people who:

  • have some horse and Agriculture industry experience and exposure.
  • wants to learn more and gain more experience or are looking to formalise what they already know and do while adding to their knowledge and skills at the same time.
  • have very basic horse handling skills to be able to catch and lead a horse.
  • have currently, or have previously worked in paid or voluntary industry positions or you have not yet been employed in the industry.

This course will then provide you with the skills and knowledge to advance your agriculture and horse skills to ensure safe work in a variety of tasks when working around livestock and provide you with skills and knowledge to care for horses and livestock in a range of job roles.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
