The nationally accredited Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology enables you to broaden your trade and be in demand as an automotive air conditioning specialist, in an industry of the future. Successfully complete this qualification and you can apply for your AAC02 Refrigerant Handling Licence and drive your career forward.

Traineeship
TAFE NSW also offers the Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology as a traineeship. To be eligible to enrol in the course as a trainee you must:

  • Be employed inthe automotive air conditioning industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
  • Have a signedtraineeship contract

COURSE SUCCESS REQUIREMENTS

During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements that are necessary for you to complete your course work and be successful.

You need to meet the following success requirements to be able to undertake work placement within industry.

Once you have enrolled in this course, you will need to get a TL000 Refrigeration and air conditioning trainee licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council. You cannot start your training without this licence.

To apply for your licence, you will need:

  • Proof of course enrolment from TAFE NSW student services
  • A signed declaration by your work supervisor using the online form

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

On completion of your course, you will be eligible to apply for:

  • AAC02 Refrigerant handling licence. This licence enables you to work in the industry as an automotive air conditioning specialist.

IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?

To be prepared for this course, we recommended you have:

  • Have maths and English at a year 10 level or equivalent
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work unsupervised
  • A valid drivers licence
  • An intermediate level of fitness to manage the physical demands of the role - climbing, lifting and moving items heavier than 15kgs

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

On completion of your course, you will be eligible to apply for:

  • AAC02 Refrigerant handling licence - through Australian Refrigeration Council. This licence enables you to work in the industry as an automotive air conditioning specialist.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you:

  • currently hold a qualification in AUR30616 - Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or AUR31116 - Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or AUR31216 - Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology as well as Air-conditioning skill set 900-81440 or completed units AURETU003 and AURETU004.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This offering for RPL purposes only. Technicians who complete 900-81440V01 may require the Certificate II for application to Arctick for a licence.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
