LEARN NEW SKILLS
Through theory and practical course work, you will learn:
- How to launch, control, and land or recover a remote aircraft
- Techniques to apply your skills e.g. building inspections, the agriculture industry, solar assessments, rescue missions
- How to operate aeronautical communications
- Take still photography and videography during flight
- To use programs to generate 2D and 3D live mapping and produce volumetric calculations
- The legislated regulations and gain a broad understanding of the aviation industry

This course licenses you to fly remote aircrafts within certain parameters. Continue to build your skill set and expand your horizons with additional endorsements.
Emerging services like drone deliveries and drone taxis are already being trialed in Australia. This technology is set to become central to business operations and demand for remote aircraft pilots will skyrocket.
This course is superseded. You can still enrol in this course, and you will be contacted if you need to transition into the next version when it is available.
There are no information sessions currently scheduled for this course.
This is a part time day course. You will need to attend approximately 6 hours a day of class, for 10 days.
The initial 10 day block is a combination of online-connected learning using MS Teams and face-to-face campus learning.
Week 1 consists of online-connected learning through MS Teams session and week 2 consists of practical learning on campus.
You will receive a delivery timetable prior to your first day of class with further details for online-connected learning.
You may also be required to complete additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent research/activities for the duration of the course.

This course offering is designed for:
- People seeking employment either part time or full time
- Entrepreneurs and existing workers in the industry wanting to build skills and knowledge to gain recognition of skills obtained in industry
- Have general Language Literacy Numeracy and technology skills to operate effectively in the industry. This is usually achieved through work experience and/or age.
Remote pilot duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge within RPAS operational environments.
This qualification is relevant to individuals operating remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) within visual line of sight (VLOS), below 400 feet above ground level (AGL), in day visual meteorological conditions (VMC), outside of controlled airspace, greater than 3 nautical miles from an aerodrome, outside of populous areas.

To keep you safe while studying, some of our face to face classes may be replaced with online or connected learning. We have also modified our face to face classes to meet physical distancing requirements and increased cleaning on campus. As restrictions ease, the way you attend your class may change again. If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID 19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled to run for 10 days (First two weeks), Monday to Friday, from 9.00am to 4.00pm. This course is an 18 week enrolment.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
