TAFE NSW REQUIREMENTS

TAFE NSW offers the Certificate III in Business as either a traineeship or non-traineeship, so you can build the career you want.

Depending on the course you choose and the campus you want to study at you will need to provide evidence that you meet all relevant entry criteria.

Traineeship

To be eligible for this course you must:

  • Be employed in the?business services?industry as this course is delivered in the workplace
  • Have a signed?traineeship contract

Non-traineeship

There are no entry requirements for non-trainees enrolling in this course.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

BE PREPARED

To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To successfully complete this course you should:

  • have technology skills to access and navigate the internet
  • be able to create, open and save electronic files
  • have access to a computer with reliable internet access, including webcam and microphone, and printer
  • be a self-directed learner in the context of a supportive online learning environment
  • have sound language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • be able to use word processing software

Students will connect via a computer at home. Students will be sent the link to the Induction/Connected Class following enrolment.

This course will be delivered via Facilitator led Connected delivery classes, and students can either attend the Tuesday day or Wednesday evening class. Optional weekly tutorials will be scheduled and these times made available to students after enrolment.

Connected learning is when students learn with a teacher and other students via web conferencing technology as part of a virtual classroom. To successfully participate in Microsoft Teams your device will require a microphone, web cam, and if attending class in a shared space a media headset.

You need to complete 12 units, BSBWHS302 and 11 electives. Electives have been pre-selected from the units displayed.

The expectation is that by enrolling in this qualification you commit to the time frame in which the qualification is being delivered. The proposed study schedule will be discussed and an individual training plan will be established. Should you fall behind your agreed schedule you will be required to complete additional work and learning outside scheduled timetable.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part time, connected learning course. You will need to attend approximately 2 hours of class, over 1 day a week, and optional weekly tutorials for 36 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 9 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 3 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent study, research, preparation of assessment tasks, learning support and online learning.

This course is designed for people who want to learn hands-on computing, administration and communications skills in order to gain employment in a business administration support role or to go on to study business administration at higher levels.

This course is currently scheduled on either Tuesday 1.00pm to 3.00pm or Wednesday 6.00pm to 8.00pm via Microsoft Teams and tutorials. Attendance offsite (eg home) using your own device. Staff will contact you if enrolling after 09/02/2021.

This is a fully government-subsidised JobTrainer course. Eligibility criteria applies.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
