This is a Full time connected delivery course. You will need to attend approximately 20 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 12 hours of other study per week.
You may also be required to complete approximately 4 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Private study; research; assignment preparation and pre reading.
This course is delivered via connected delivery using MicroSoft Teams during session times to connect with your teacher and the other students. Learning materials and assessments are accessed using the Moodle platform during class time and for independant study. TAFE students will be offered free access to MicroSoft Office 365 to access MicroSoft Teams and other programs used in delivery. Students are required to have access to a computer with internet connectivity as well as speakers and microphone for use during class times.
IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR YOU?
This course is designed for people who are seeking to work in an administrative role within the medical environment. Training includes medical terminology, billing (using PracSoft and Medical Director Software), applying the principles of confidentiality in a medical environment, maintaining stock supplies and medical records. Students will enhance their skills in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. The training will provide the participant with the skills and knowledge to undertake work as a Medical Secretary, Medical Receptionist, Medical Typist or Medical Records Clerk.

If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, there may be a modification or delay in the planned timeframe due to COVID-19 impacts. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.
This course is currently scheduled at TAFE NSW Northern Beaches Campus , Connected Learning Centre on Monday, Thursday and Friday 9:0am to 4:30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
