The nationally accredited Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) equips you with the skills to specialise your career as a medical receptionist, clinic administrator, nursing administrator, or medical records officer in practices, private surgeries and hospitals.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • to feel comfortable undertaking your studies via connected delivery
  • to have access to a computer, with a minimum of 4.0GB of RAM, and reliable internet connection, with web conferencing technology
  • to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN), and digital skills screening tool, at the information session, or as part of the enrolment process, if enrolling after the information session. Your responses are reviewed to identify your skill level meets the required competency for the course and delivery mode. An alternative course may be recommended by the Head Teacher or Education Support Officer

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full time, connected learning course. You will need to attend approximately 20.8 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 8.4 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 6.7 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including assessment tasks, self-study, skill practice reading, and collaboration with peers.


This course is offered by Connected Classroom.  This is just like a regular classroom, but teachers and students use the latest video conferencing technologies.

Your teacher can be in one TAFE location, and you can join the class from another TAFE location using video conferencing equipment or a mobile device. You can also join in from a venue in a participating regional community. You will be able to see and talk to your teacher and other students as though they were in the room with you.   • want to learn hands-on medical administration, computing, and customer service/communications skills, in order to gain employment in a medical administration support role, or to go on to study either business administration or medical practice management at higher levels
  • have some basic administration, communication, and computing skills, gained either as a result of life experience in an increasingly technology-savvy world, and the need to be able to interact using these technologies as a part of day-to-day life, or from completing a Certificate II in Business
  • may have outdated computing or medical administration skills, and may not possess the required understanding of medical terminology
  • have sufficient digital literacy skills, to be able to study successfully via connected delivery

This is a Connected Learning course. This means you will join your teacher and other students in a virtual classroom and will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Depending on the course, you may be able to join the class from your local TAFE NSW campus, or from anywhere with a good internet connection, such as your home. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. The specific attendance requirements for this course are below.

This course is currently scheduled for 3 days a week. An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
