To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

  • An interest and some experience working in an administrative role in an office environment
  • Some experience with different computer software programs, like Microsoft Word
  • Basic typing skills

There are no entry requirements for this course, however, to ensure students have the required skill set to complete the level 4 computer units it is preferable for students to have previously completed a Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent. It is beneficial for students to have access to a computer at home to allow for practice and completion of at home activities and completion of assessment work. Students will also have access to TAFE campus library resources to complete any work.

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills as defined in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). If you haven't studied at this level or above before, you may be required to undertake an assessment of your LLN skills so that we can better understand your academic capabilities and identify areas where you may need support. If you do not meet these requirements a Teacher will discuss alternative options or support services available to help you achieve your study goals.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a flexible blended course. You will need to attend approximately 3 hours of class, over 1 day a week, for 1 year. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 8.5 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 4.9 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Private study, research and assessment preparation..

  • Existing workers who want to develop their skills and knowledge in business administration in a wide range of business fields or move into other courses in business administration.
  • Students who have previously completed a Certificate III in Business or Certificate III Business Administration Course or who have equivalent skills and knowledge and are seeking to increase skills and to gain a higher-level qualification.
    These prospective students have:
  • An interest and experience in this type of work and are seeking to increase their skills and knowledge to improve career opportunities or access further training.
  • Pathways from the qualification include Diploma of Business and Diploma of Business Administration.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

You will need to provide the following resources which is retained on completion of study:

  • General stationery, (ie, pen, pencil, eraser, highlighters and stapler).
