Assessments

  • Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation, role playing using a fictional organisation or your own workplace as a basis

  • Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you have:

    • experience in industry, to at least a Certificate III level or equivalent, including health and safety experience as a team member or supervisor, conducting safety observations, identifying hazards, doing risk assessments, experiencing site safety inductions, being a safety committee member, or attending toolbox group or team safety talks
    • Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills, to at least a Level 3-4

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 Units of competency, including 5 core and 5 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Virtual classroom, on campus

You will attend a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre to connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom where you will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units or practice training though our network of Mobile Training Units.
