This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to provide support in a range of legal service settings. They apply solutions to a range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

To be able to successfully complete this course, you will need literacy skills of Level 4 or above. You will be contacted by the Course Manager to discuss the level of difficulty of this course. You may be advised to complete Certificate III prior to undertaking this Diploma.

To be able to successfully complete this course it is recommended that you have successfully completed the Certificate III in Business Administration (Legal) or a similar course of study. You will also need to commit to at least 10 hours a week of study outside of the classroom.

There is no work placement in this course.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a full-time, blended delivery course. You will need to attend approximately 27 hours of class, over 4 days a week, for 18 weeks. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 6 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 6 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including Research; private study; assignment preparation; reading; watching video clips; discussion groups, Court Visits.

This course delivery is designed for people who have successfully completed the Certificate III in Business Administration (Legal) and/or have had some experience in a legal related field.

Students in this course are required to have some understanding of the legal system in Australia and some previous study or knowledge of various court documents and must have intermediate level word processing skills.

If work placement and the demonstration of practical skills are requirements of your course, due to the impacts of COVID-19 there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these aspects of your course in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

This course is currently scheduled on Monday to Thursday from 9:00am to 3:30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

A fee applies for most TAFE NSW courses and must be paid when you enrol. The amount you pay depends on the type of course you study, and on your personal circumstances. An initial payment of $80 is required to confirm your enrolment into this course. If you do not wish to continue with your enrolment, you must formally advise Customer Service of your withdrawal. If you do not withdraw prior to the commencement date of the course, this initial payment is non-refundable.
