With Federal Government initiatives, the establishment of a Small Business Digital Taskforce and significant growth opportunities in growing Asian markets are likely to continue to support small business activity.

To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

  • An interest and some knowledge, skills or experience in small business, gained through work experience or previous study
  • Some experience working with digital technology and different computer software programs like the Microsoft Office suite
  • An understanding of work place expectations and practices, skills in communication and team work
  • Numeracy, literacy and communication skills gained through school or work experience at a minimum level of year 12 of high school

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a full time day course. You will need to attend approximately 10 hours of class, over 2 days a week, for 1 year. As well as the in-class component, you will need to complete approximately 6 hours of other study per week.

You may also be required to complete approximately 4.2 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours. This is non-facilitated/undirected learning. It includes additional learning you may undertake for revision, or for example, improving skill levels for creating a business plan, creating documents, or using spreadsheets, accessing links to online videos, tutorials, professional articles and reading materials for self-paced unstructured learning, independent study, and revision or skills practice.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
