Course Details

This qualification is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain the Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organisation. It reflects the role of practitioners who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a fee exemption. In claiming the exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accordance with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

This course is blended delivery. For each unit in a 4 week period, students are required to attend 2 fortnightly connected learning workshops of 4 hours in duration. The first unit is delivered on a Friday and the remaining units are delivered on a Thursday. All workshops are from 9.00am to 1.00pm. Once a month on a Friday there will be an optional attendance assessment day from 9.00am to 1.00pm.

The course takes 12 months to complete and students are required to do 15 hours of self-directed learning each week.

Students will engage in a range of activities to support the supervised learning such as independent study, research and projects, preparation of assessment tasks, learning support, online learning. This may also include time within the work place to transfer and reflect on learning.

To successfully complete this course you should:
Have technology skills to access and navigate the internet and be able to use word processing software
Have access to a computer with reliable internet access
Be a self-directed learner in the context of a supportive online learning environment
Sound language and literacy skills

The expectation is that by enrolling in this qualification you commit to the time frame in which the qualification is being delivered. The proposed study schedule will be discussed and an individual learning plan will be established. Should you fall behind your agreed schedule you will be required to complete additional work and learning outside scheduled class time.

This course is offered by Connected Classroom. This is just like a regular classroom, but teachers and students use the latest video conferencing technologies. Your teacher can be in one TAFE location, and you can join the class from another TAFE location using video conferencing equipment or a mobile device. You can also join in from a venue in a participating regional community. You will be able to see and talk to your teacher and other students as though they were in the room with you. You will also have access to support to meet your learning needs.
Class commences Friday 2 August 2019. Attendance is Friday fortnightly 9.00am to 1.00pm for the first month then you will attend on Thursday in room DG.03 at TAFE NSW Finley, delivered by Connected Classroom.
