This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday with day classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, multiple choice questions, matching and true or false activities
Project tasks: case studies, creative projects, research activities, presentations
Workplace portfolio: reflective journals, implementing activities, practical skills demonstrations
Training logbook: completion of a minimum of 100 hours of work placement
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
A minimum of 100 hours of work placement in a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students. within at least one school in Australia. The work placement will be arranged by the TAFE NSW in partnership with the school and implemented within your program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and assessment to occur.
You student may already have access to a primary or secondary school through paid or voluntary employment. This can be assessed by TAFE NSW for suitability for you to complete your placement. A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the School. The School and/or some locations may also have additional requirements such as vaccination and Police Checks. Students will be notified of specific requirements prior to placement. Please note: There are currently COVID 19 vaccination requirements for volunteers and employees in the Education Sector. Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in School Based Education Support qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 10 core and 5 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
