Assessments

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • To complete this course and the required volunteer hours (minimum of 20 hours) you will need to provide a Current Working with Children Clearance and a National Police Check. You will be required to obtain these documents and submit to your teacher by Wednesday 10 March 2021.
    • Access to a device such as a computer, laptop or a tablet will assist your learning, but devices are available at TAFE NSW Campus libraries and local libraries.
  • Students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer work. Due to potential impacts of COVID 19, there may be a delay or modification in being able to undertake these volunteer hours in the planned timeframe. Be assured, we'll keep you informed every step of the way.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Community Services qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 units of competency, including 5 core and 7 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Virtual classroom, on campus

You will attend a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre to connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom where you will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units or practice training though our network of Mobile Training Units.
