- Be employed in the community services industry as this course is delivered in the workplace

During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements to complete your course work.
You need to meet the following requirements to be able to undertake work placement. Your teacher will let you know when you need to provide evidence of:
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- A National Police Check
WORK EXPERIENCE
Work experience provides you with exposure to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment.
We strongly recommend you undertake work experience with a suitable industry employer.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
With 130 locations across the state, TAFE NSW tailors qualifications to meet the needs of the local community and specific student groups (like apprentices, fast-tracked and online students). To make sure this course is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:
- a trainee (you will work in industry and study at the same time)
- employed
- signed up with an Apprentice Network Provider and have a Training Plan Proposal
- seeking to gain skills and knowledge to become a qualified community services worker after successful completion
To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- a computer or regular access to a computer.
- reliable Internet and email access
- access to an appropriate workplace
- a valid Working with Children Check for work within NSW (or equivalent)
- To demonstrate skills in some assessments. This may involve participating in roleplays which may be video recorded and the video submitted for marking.
- Recording equipment such as a camera or smartphone

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a self paced, online course. You must attend approximately 20 hours of class. You may also be required to complete approximately 3 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placements and research.
The course will run for 1 years.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.
