ENROLLING IN FIRST AID UNITS OF COMPETENCY
If you are seeking to enrol in a First Aid unit of competency you are advised that to complete the unit you must be able to perform basic life support skills, for example control bleeding and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). If you have a disability that would prevent you from performing required basic life support skills you are advised that you will not be able to achieve the unit of competency.
Once a term attend a clinical skills workshop. Locations to be advised. Complete 120 hours unpaid work placement in an Aged care Facility.
Blended Delivery - In this blended learning course you will undertake your learning and assessment through a combination of online, video conferencing and monthly workshops.
Your teacher will provide study support online, over the phone or via email. The online/video conferencing will take place in small to medium colleges and connect to a Teacher based in Dubbo. Locations include: Wellington, Dunedoo, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Nyngan, Warren, Cobar, Bourke and Brewarrina.
Your learning resources include a Individual Support Text book and digital resources available on the TAFE NSW Moodle.
While there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, TAFE Western conditions of entry to this course are:
- the ability to work independently
- access to a computer and the internet

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
