Two specialisations are completed for the award of this qualification - Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community).
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
ENROLLING IN FIRST AID UNITS OF COMPETENCY
If you are seeking to enrol in a First Aid unit of competency you are advised that to complete the unit you must be able to perform basic life support skills, for example control bleeding and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). If you have a disability that would prevent you from performing required basic life support skills you are advised that you will not be able to achieve the unit of competency.
This program includes activities which are to be completed in your own time, students will need to complete 120 hrs unpaid work placement and provide a NSW Police Criminal Record Check.
Campus Based Classes Part time - For this campus-based course you will undertake your learning and assessment in a classroom at Inverell TAFE Campus. This program includes activities which are to be completed in your own time. Part time enrolment requires attendence 2 days per week Tuesday, and Wednesday - 09:00 - 3:00 pm.
The program will run over 36 weeks, equivalent to 1 years study.
Your learning resources include a Individual Support Text book at a cost of approximately $90.00 and digital resources available on the TAFE NSW Moodle
While there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, TAFE conditions of entry to this course are:
- the ability to work independently
- access to a computer and the internet
You will be required to obtain a National Criminal Record Check (through the Australian Federal Police) before completing compulsory work placement. This document can be obtained here: http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience your fee may decrease from the maximum shown.
Payment by instalment may also be available. Your fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
The textbook cost is approximately $90.00, First Aid Course Fee is $25.00 and if you use the TAFE CRC process approximately $16.00. You will need to purchase shoes and uniform to go on placement unless you already have the required uniform.
