This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision.
Some job roles may require tasks to be performed with a moderate level of autonomy and/or the provision of supervision/leadership to other staff/volunteers.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
ENROLLING IN FIRST AID UNITS OF COMPETENCY If you are seeking to enrol in a First Aid unit of competency you are advised that to complete the unit you must be able to perform basic life support skills, for example control bleeding and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). If you have a disability that would prevent you from performing required basic life support skills you are advised that you will not be able to achieve the unit of competency.
We are looking forward to meeting you at one of the information sessions, held on: Tuesday 25th June and Thursday 27th June at 10:00am; 1:00pm and 6:00pm. Please note: Dates of additional sessions will be determined as necessary. Please ring 13 7974 to book into one of these sessions. You only need to attend one information session.
Information Sessions are held at: TAFE NSW Bankstown, 500 Chapel Road Bankstown 2200, D Block, in the Foyer. If you enter via Gate 2, D Block is on your right.
You are required to hold a current Working with Children Check prior to going on work placement. To apply for a Working with Children Check complete the application at www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au. If you are in paid work in a child related industry will need to pay a fee of $80; volunteers pay $0.

There is a minimum requirement of 100 hours of work placement in a school setting as a mandatory part of this course. Workplace attendance days are flexible in order to meet the needs of students, and are communicated professionally with the school contact person. Students must complete these work placement days (approximately 20 days) during the 18 week duration of the course. Children's education and Care teachers assist in the organisation of student work placements.

As a TAFE NSW student in this course, you will have access to:

Proposed Attendance: One day per week from 9.30am - 2.00pm, four hours per day for 18 weeks (one Semester) It is also expected that students will complete approximately 20 hours per week private study, assignment preparation and research.
SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

A fee applies for most TAFE NSW courses and must be paid when you enrol. The amount you pay depends on the type of course you study, and on your personal circumstances. An initial payment of $80 is required to confirm your enrolment into this course. If you do not wish to continue with your enrolment, you must formally advise Customer Service of your withdrawal. If you do not withdraw prior to the first date of the course, this initial payment is non-refundable. Please contact us on 13 7974 for further information.
