Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

To successfully complete this course, highly recommended that you need a Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support Aged Care and considerable experience in aged care in a team leader role. It is highly recommended that learners are working in aged care to successfully complete as many assessments are work based on workplace procedures and document. You must access to workplaces which will provide experiences and learning to support the agreed units for the qualification, either as an employee or a student. You will need to access and complete Moodle based learning activities and complete all knowledge and competency assessments at a satisfactory level.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. Placement cannot take place if learner unable to produce criminal history check.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 18 Units of competency, including 15 core and 3 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
Western Connect provides the communities in Western NSW access to a large range of state-wide training opportunities direct from a local TAFE NSW campus or from home. Classes for Western Connect courses are mostly delivered online, with web and video conferencing technology to connect you with your teacher and other students. Connected learning means you can attend your online classes from home or log in from a campus. Some courses may require you to attend classes on campus and online with blended learning, while mobile training units bring your teacher and training equipment to your nearest campus for convenience when you need to undertake physical training and assessments.
