Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:

    Employed as a direct care worker in Aged Care sector or have evidence that they been employed in the aged care sector consecutively since 2019 in a direct client care support role.

  • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

    • Clinical uniform T-shirt for $25.00

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • This course is offered by Virtual Classroom.  This is just like a regular classroom, but teachers and students use the latest video conferencing technologies.

  • Your teacher can be in one TAFE location, and you can join the class from another TAFE location using video conferencing equipment or a mobile device. You can also join in from a venue in a participating regional community. You will be able to see and talk to your teacher and other students as though they were in the room with you. You will also have access to support to meet your learning needs.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to provide evidence that you:

    • Employment as a direct care worker in Aged Care sector or have evidence that they been employed in the aged care sector consecutively since 2019 in a direct client care support role.
    • Hold a completed Certificate III Individual Support - CHC33015
    • A CLEAR National Police Check. This must be presented prior to attending work placement.
    • Evidence of vaccinations, including influenza and COVID must be presented prior to attending work placement. A COVID test may also be required.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 18 Units of competency, including 15 core and 3 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Virtual classroom, off campus

Connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom to participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. You will be able to join the class from anywhere with a good internet connection, such as your home or a TAFE campus. If you would like to join from TAFE, please contact your local campus to book a space. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units.
