Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Skills assessment: role play scenario, presentation, practical, observation including workplace assessments

  • Knowledge assessment: multiple choice, true or false, short answer questions

  • Case study: case study scenario, reflection

  • Portfolio: samples of work in a workplace environment

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

    Each student will be required to complete 120 hours (3 weeks) of clinical placement in an accredited aged care facility.

    To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you:

    • successfully completed a screening literacy and numeracy assessment via the Ageing and Disability section.
    • complete an online application for enrolment
    • You will be required to attain a level of literacy level 2 - 3.
    • You must complete each of the units and the workplace component to a satisfactory level.

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

    • criminal record check
    • NDIS check
    • Covid 19 and flu vaccinations

Additional entry requirements

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • Within the first 4 weeks of course commencement, you need to:

    • obtain a National Criminal Record Certificate
    • an NDIS check and have completed a vaccination regime, which includes Covid 19 vaccination and current flu vaccination.
    • successfully complete a literacy and numeracy assessment

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Ageing Support qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 18 Units of competency, including 15 core and 3 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
