Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Skills assessment: role play scenarios, presentation, practical, observation (including assessments in the workplace)

Portfolio: samples of work in a workplace environment
Project: report, research based project, journal, activities
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

To complete this course, the following materials are required:
Learners should be prepared to meet any costs associated with securing their National Police Check and a Working with Children Check. Learners will need to supply their own stationery needed for class such as pens, notebook, folder, etc. as well as suitable attire for Work Placement.
To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
To successfully complete this course, you will need to attend weekly connected learning classes (on-line) and have access to a device and internet to link in to the classes or book at your campus to link in to classes; complete your at-home learning activities set by your teachers; stationery such as pens/notebook/folder; access to computer and internet (students can access computer, internet and printing at the TAFE Campus). You will also need to complete 80 hours of Work Placement. A National Police Check and a clear Working with Children Check is needed for participation in Work Placement.
80 Work Placement hours in a community services organisation. You will need to provide a National Police Check and a clear Working with Children Check for participation in Work Placement. Your teacher will support you to secure a Host organisation or if you are currently employed in the community services industry you could potentially complete your required hours in your own employment role after consultation with the Head Teacher.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 11 core and 4 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
