Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • To successfully complete this course, you will need to have access to workplaces which will provide experiences and learning to support the agreed units for the qualification, either as an employee or a student. You will need to access and complete Moodle based learning activities and complete all knowledge and competency assessments at a satisfactory level.

  • You will need to complete 120 hours of mandatory work placement within industry. Placement cannot take place if learner unable to produce criminal history check.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 units of competency, including 10 core and 7 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.

Western Connect

Western Connect provides the communities in Western NSW access to a large range of state-wide training opportunities direct from a local TAFE NSW campus or from home. Classes for Western Connect courses are mostly delivered online, with web and video conferencing technology to connect you with your teacher and other students. Connected learning means you can attend your online classes from home or log in from a campus. Some courses may require you to attend classes on campus and online with blended learning, while mobile training units bring your teacher and training equipment to your nearest campus for convenience when you need to undertake physical training and assessments.
