Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • During your course you will undertake a mandatory 120 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

  • Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

Materials needed

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

    • Appropriate work placement attire required (Black Trousers and enclosed black shoes)
    • A Workplace Shirt will be provided.
    • You are required to bring your own stationery and a USB.

  • To be enrolled in this course:

    • You will be required to attend mandatory information session and hold a Clear current 2021 criminal record check.
  • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • Certificate IV in Leisure and Health requires the successful completion of 17 units of competency and will be offered: Part-time and delivered over 12 months.
    • Students will be provided with a blended delivery program that will involve face-to-face and online teaching and learning.
    • The complexity of core and elective units designed for this course can be managed satisfactorily by combining the theoretical components and the development of skills methodically, ensuring the breadth and depth of knowledge required to achieve competency can be easily attained.
    • You will also be required to successfully complete 120 hours work placement.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 units of competency, including 10 core and 7 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
