Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:

    • This program includes 120 hrs mandatory work placement to be completed in addition to days attending TAFE. Local industry partners will not allow students with a criminal record to participate in mandatory work placement.
    • You will be required to present a Current National Criminal Record Check without convictions on the first day of class.
    • You will need to present evidence of current flu vaccination to participate in work placement at most local organisations.
    • Some workplaces require students to complete a health check, immunisation &/or Working with children check.

Materials needed

To complete this course, the following materials are required:

  • You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study: - CLEAR National Criminal Record Check & Immunisations.

  • Free WiFi is available at TAFE NSW Gosford but students using internet offsite will need to consider this as a cost.

  • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • Students will be required to successfully undertake 120hrs work placement in an Aged Care or Disability Setting throughout the duration of the course.
    • You will require a clear National Criminal record Check. Some workplaces require students to complete a health check, immunisation &/or Working with children check.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 units of competency, including 10 core and 7 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
