Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • to engage with connected learning which is where a teacher leads a ‘virtual’ classroom where students and teachers in different locations are connected to each other via web conferencing technology. You will attend these virtual classrooms and participate in learning and activities as if you were at TAFE.
    • to be available to attend the connected classrooms on the dates and times as per the timetable. To participate in the connected lesson you will need a computer or device, webcam and headset and access to the internet.
    • to complete a National Criminal record check and Working with Children Check (WWCC) to go on work placement.
  • Work Placement is a requirement of this course, you will need to complete:

    • at least 120 hours of documented work placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. TAFE NSW can arrange work placement on behalf of the student.
  • Check with your teachers on employer eligibility. At times access to the workplace may be disrupted due to COVID-19. TAFE NSW has implemented additional protocols to protect workplace, student and Teachers and/or Assessor health and safety. You will need to complete a National Criminal record check and Working with Children Check (WWCC) to go on work placement.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 units of competency, including 10 core and 7 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
