Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Knowledge assessments: short answer, multiple choice questions, research tasks, group assignments

  • Simulated workplace projects: scenarios-based problem solving

  • Submission of a logbook

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • During your course you will undertake a mandatory 80 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

  • Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

    • National Police Check
    • Working with Children Check for work within NSW. The WWCC can be for volunteers (if the student is undertaking an unpaid work placement or volunteer work) otherwise they will need to have a valid WWCC for those undertaking paid work

  • To successfully complete this course, you will:

    • Students will require: A completed National Police Check; a valid Working with Children Check for work within NSW. Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 8 core and 7 speciality units.
