Knowledge assessments: online quizzes, multiple-choice questions, matching and true or false activities, research projects, presentations, creative projects

Skills assessments: critical reflection activities and reflective journals, programming, planning and implementing curriculum tasks

Practical skills assessments: practical demonstrations such as implementing experiences and routines

To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
A minimum of 280 hours of work placement in a regulated Education and Care Service in Australia is required for this qualification. The work placement will be arranged by TAFE NSW in partnership with the service and implemented within the student’s program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and assessment to occur.

Work placement is an opportunity to learn on the job and complete assessment requirements and often leads to employment opportunities. The Public Health (COVID -19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021 states that education and care workers are required to have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or be issued with a medical contraindication certificate by 8 November 2021 to be able to undertake relevant work. This applies to learners on work placement in an early education and care facility. If you are not vaccinated we cannot assure you that this component of your course can be organized or fulfilled, which will impact your ability to successfully course complete. TAFENSW recognises learners reasons for not being vaccinated. This can be discussed privately with TAFE NSW career counsellors prior to enrolment.

A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the Education and Care Service.

There are no materials needed for this qualification.

Learners will be participating in a combination of Face to Face and virtual learning. Learners will need to be competent in using a computer to complete research, assessment tasks and engage in learning. Learners will need to have access to a computer and the internet.

Learners working in industry are encouraged to join the course, those not working in an NQF approved ECEC service will be required to volunteer in an ECEC service.

Learners will be given a copy of their timetable on their first day of class. They will need to bring a pen and a note pad with them to their first day of class.
